Roddart are the duo of Daniel James Ross (electronics, voice and piano) & Jake Stoddart (trumpet and flugelhorn). They are both classically trained musicians who have extended their practice to include improvisation where they navigate the space between jazz and electro-acoustic music. They are also both members of Mega Trio + 1.
Daniel is a composer based in London and a PhD candidate in composition at Cardiff University, specialising in electro-instrumental and algorithmic music and studying with Arlene Sierra. He has recently had work performed at the Brighton Fringe. Daniel also improvises with a laptop using custom-built software and algorithmically generated samples. Daniel lecturers in Live Sound, Radio Production and Podcasting at Morley College and presents Beethoven Was Wrong on Resonance FM.
Jake Stoddart is a professional trumpeter based in London. His musical life started at the Centre for Young Musicians at Morley College, under Mike Hinton, he went on to study classical trumpet at Trinity College of Music, London. Jake currently performs with various popular, jazz and world music groups and has recently played at Glastonbury Festival, Bestival and the Barbican. Jake has performed at events far afield as Muscat and New Orleans and plays extensively in the UK.
